Rays of light.
We are sociable creatures, used to being surrounded by other people. Opportunities for calm solitude are rare and we treasure them. The Japanese have a phrase for relaxing in the atmosphere of a peaceful wilderness – forest bathing or shinrin-yoku.
Experiments by the Japanese Ministry for the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries found in the 1980s found that time spent in forested areas lowered blood pressure and pulse rate.
When we cannot get to the great outdoors to enjoy this shinrin-yoku we can enjoy the tranquil sunlight in the woods through these images created over many seasons around my home, deep in the Forest.
